Luxembourg Pride Run : Let’s celebrate diversity and inclusion with even more participants

In March 2024, ING and the City of Luxembourg announced that the Luxembourg Pride Run would be taking place for the second time. Both the 5 km and 10 km races are open to runners, while the 5 km race is also open to walkers. The starter pistol will go off at 19:00 on Thursday, 11 July, on Place Guillaume II.

Last year's Luxembourg Pride Run – the first – was a huge success, drawing 1,500 participants. This first Luxembourg Pride Run attracted a host of runners, supporters and volunteers, and sent a powerful message of inclusion – a beacon of support for a fairer society in which everyone is equally valued.

The Luxembourg Pride Run is an important milestone in the promotion of diversity and inclusion in Luxembourg. Around 3500 people have registered this year, which is a new record. More than 90 businesses and associations will also take part in this great event – a testament to the immense support and enthusiasm of people from Luxembourg, and some from further afield as well, for this cause.

As sport is a key lever for inclusion and mutual understanding, the funds raised from sign-up fees will be donated to projects that promote LGBTIQ+ people's rights and foster their wellbeing.

Michael Burch, CEO ING Luxembourg, explains: « Because diversity and inclusion are cornerstones of ING's belief system, we are proud to partner with the City of Luxembourg to support and defend these values across the country. The Luxembourg Pride Run attests to our shared dedication to creating a society that is open and fair, where everyone enjoys the respect they deserve and is celebrated for their individuality. »

Maurice Bauer, Chief Alderman Responsible for Equal Opportunities claims: « The City of Luxembourg has long been proactive about promoting equal opportunities, not only within the municipal administration but in every area of public life. We are therefore thrilled to see so many people turn out, whether they are racing or volunteering. Together, on 11 July, we will be sending a powerful message of inclusion and openness, worthy of our status as an "LGBTIQ+ Freedom Zone". »

This initiative is being carried out jointly by the City of Luxembourg and ING, in collaboration with Rosa Lëtzebuerg, the Centre LGBTIQ+ CIGALE and IMS. The technical aspects of the race are being handled by the non-profit Urban Trail de Luxembourg ASBL, which has a strong track record in organising sporting events in Luxembourg.

ING and the City invite everyone to take part in this festive event – pounding the pavements or cheering the runners on – to celebrate diversity, inclusion and pride. This landmark event will help strengthen our collective dedication to creating a society that is open and egalitarian, where everyone enjoys the respect they deserve and is celebrated for their individuality.
